Chinese Paddlefish
These fish are a contender to being the biggest freshwater fish in the world, reports up to 23 feet have been recorded. They are also critically endangered due to over fishing and dam reconstruction. Reportedly none have been seen in the wild since 2003 and scientists fear they are already extinct.

Lacking any other defense, many larval fish have adapted transparency as a method of camouflage—such as this tiny, see-through larval leaf scorpionfish in Hawaii.
The Sarcastic Fringehead is a small, extremely territorial fish found along the Pacific Coast from San Francisco to Baja California, and Mexico. They usually make their homes in cracks, small caves, shells, and even cans and bottles, and they defend their territory fearlessly, attacking anything from larger fish to even divers.
